Take the Randen tram at Arashiyama Terminal and change at Katabiranotsuji Station onto the Randen Kitano Line. Get off at Omuro-Ninnaji Station and walk up to Ninnaji Temple. Cross the road and take the 59 bus (headed for Shijo Kawaramachi) from the Omuro-Ninnaji bus stop outside the temple entrance. Get off at Kinkakuji-michi. It takes about 40 minutes in total, and is the most scenic way to get from Arashiyama to Kinkakuji. On the way to Kinkakuji, you can also stop by two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Ryoanji and Ninnaji, for a short visit.
