After visiting Kinkakuji, cross the road outside the main entrance and take the 59 bus (headed for Utano) at Kinkakuji-michi bus stop. Get off at Omuro-Ninnaji, then walk down the short street to the Randen tram at Omuro-Ninnaji Station. Change at Katabiranotsuji Station to reach Arashiyama Terminal. It takes about 40 minutes in total and is the most scenic way to get to Arashiyama from Kinkakuji. On the way to Arashiyama you can also stop by two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Ryoanji and Ninnaji, for a short visit.
